Temple University: St. Patty's Weekend Review

If you go to Temple University, you know that St. Patrick’s Day is always going to be a good time no matter what day the holiday falls on. This year, St. Patty’s Day happened to fall on the last Sunday of Temple’s spring break, meaning that the students would have to go to class the next day. That didn’t seem to matter, as people woke up, dressed like idiots, and prepared themselves for a long day of drinking.

The weekend started with some disappointing news, as Temple’s men’s basketball team lost to Massachusetts Friday night 79-74 in the A-1O Tournament.  However, Temple received some good news on Selection Sunday when they found out that they made the NCAA Tournament as a number nine seed. The team is set to play eight-seeded NC State on Friday at 1:40 PM.

On Saturday, it seemed like student’s were slowly returning to campus, but many students were still at home for break. Some people started the celebration a day early, walking or stumbling around campus dressed in all green. The weather was not exactly ideal, as it was snowing and sleeting for much of the day.

Sunday was absolutely crazy. TUrnt-UP was at a party on Edgley Street that ended up getting three kegs. The music was blasting outside and the back yard was crowded with people playing beer pong. Many schools just began spring break, so a lot of people came up to join in on the celebration and they were definitely glad that they did.

One of the most memorable moments of the weekend was when a kid pooped in his pants while attempting a keg stand. Yes, you read that correctly…someone pooped in his pants while doing a keg stand.

The house got absolutely trashed. The floor was covered in a coating of beer and mud. There was trash everywhere and the couch in the living room got destroyed. The basement had glass bottles shattered all over the floor because people were shooting hockey pucks at them. At one point the sink broke and was spraying water all over the kitchen. People were up drinking till six in the morning, despite having class the next day.

Overall, St. Patty’s day at Temple was a success and an awesome way to end spring break. If you missed out on the festivities, be sure to come up next year, you won’t regret it.
