The Evolution of Thursday

Thursday. It was once known as the day before Friday. The day before the start of the weekend. The only good thing about Thursday was the fact that Thanksgiving always comes on the fourth Thursday of November and you are guaranteed to inhale a delicious meal.

Today, Thursday has a new meaning. "Thirsty Thursday". For college students, Thursday now marks the start of the weekend. Thursday means that you are going to get nothing done on Friday because you drank your face off the night before. It makes the school week go faster and the weekend come sooner. If your not going out Thursday night for whatever reason, people look at you funny.

Not only does Thursday now mean the weekend is starting, it means that you are in for the best day for social media of the week. "Throwback Thursday". Twitter and Instagram are taken over by people posting old or "throwback" pictures of themselves or other things. It gives people the opportunity to reminisce on old memories or forgotten childhood hobbies.

Below, TUrnt-UP takes a look at some of our favorite "throwbacks" of the 90's.

TV Show: Rugrats
If you grew up in the 90's and considered yourself to be a Nickelodeon kid, then you most likely watched Rugrats.

Song: TLC - "No Scrubs"
"No Scrubs" was the ideal R&B song of the 90's. Girls were able to jam out in their room to this song after a breakup with a guy. Guys listened to this song because it was just flat out catchy.

Movie: The Shawshank Redemption
Arguably the best movie ever made. Enough said. If you haven't seen it, do it now.

Athlete: Deion Sanders
"Primetime" was one of the most feared defensive backs in the NFL in the 90's. Whether he was running one back for a touchdown, or dressing like a complete fool, Deion definitely knew how to get the media's attention.
